DA-CFM NW-CFM

The Dallas Fort Worth Coral Farmers MarketSM (DA-CFM) event was initially developed during the end of 2007. The same business partners that own and operate the Coral Farmers Market SM , the SouthWestern Coral Farmers MarketSM , the SouthEastern Coral Farmers MarketSM and the Inland Empire Coral Farmers MarketSM , (Art Petit and Steve Tyree), both own and operate this DA-CFM event company. The Dallas Fort Worth Coral Farmers MarketSM is a separate and distinct company. Both Art and Steve decided to organize and promote a Coral Farmers MarketSM event within the Dallas Fort Worth area after we had successfully tested the logistics of supporting the first Northwestern Coral Farmers MarketSM event in Portland. That demonstrated that we can get our equipment to an event located more then 500 miles from our home base in Southern California. Steve had also attended a large coral frag swap in Central Oklahoma that was organized by the Central Oklahoma Marine Aquarium Society during late 2007 and found enthusiastic support from potential vendors and attendees. A few years ago the Dallas Fort Worth area resurrected the financially failing MACNA conference. So there is a large group of Reef enthusiasts in this region.

Our first and second annual DA-CFM events occurred in November of 2008 and 2009. We did experience some operational problems the second year due to the difficulty in getting a work crew out from California for the one day event. After the second DA-CFM event we got an offer from the DFWMAS (Dallas Fort Worth Marine Aquarium Society) to hold our event within their annual Next Wave conference. This was a great answer for our road crew problems, since the society was offering some volunteer labor and would also supply the saltwater needed for the show. In return we would provide vendor support that would bring in our usual fine selection of exotic farmed corals. Hopefully the two combined events will offer a greater attraction to the public and this combined event will grow in size every year. The first combined event will occur in February 2011.

The CFM event schedule now places the Dallas Fort Worth Coral Farmers Market SM coral show right at the start of the coral farming year in February. The combined event with the DFWMAS Next Wave offers the chance to see audio and visual presentations from nationally known experts. The CFM coral show within this event is all about bringing coral farmers and coral aquarists together to conduct free market exchanges. Once inside the event, the buying public is free to conduct business directly with participating coral farmers. The main revenue sources for the DA-CFM is the leasing of booth space to retailers. We believe that this new combined Dallas Fort Worth Coral Farmers MarketSM and Next Wave combined event will eventually become a very large and prestigious coral farming and marine conference event.
